About us

Helping Hands was created to support families in finding balance while raising a child with special needs. We are a locally owned and operated company that is invested in being a part of the Athens Area Community. We believe therapy should be collaborative, comfortable, and effective—which is why we bring high-quality ABA services directly into the home. By meeting children where they feel most secure, surrounded by their favorite people and things, we help them learn and grow in ways that naturally generalize across environments.

In-home therapy also allows our team to adjust environmental factors so daily life flows more smoothly. From using visuals around the home to restructuring a morning routine, we tailor strategies that reduce challenges and create lasting improvements in families.

We also understand the trust it takes to place your child in someone else’s care. Unlike traditional models where parents drop their children off at a therapy center, Helping Hands ensures that parents remain present and engaged throughout the process. With our approach, families can feel confident knowing that they are part of every step—and that their child is learning in a safe, supportive environment designed to help them thrive.

What sets us apart

Feature / benefit

Helping Hands (in-home ABA)

Traditional therapy centers

Therapy environment

Delivered in the comfort of the child’s home, surrounded by familiar people and favorite things

Provided in a clinic, daycare, or school setting away from home

Parent involvement

Parents are actively engaged and present throughout the process

Parents typically drop children off and are not present during sessions

Skill generalization

Skills are practiced in the natural environment, making it easier for children to apply them in daily life

Skills may remain “clinic-bound” and harder to transfer into the home

Environmental support

Team adjusts routines and uses visual supports to make home life flow more smoothly

Limited ability to influence or adjust family routines

Convenience

Therapy comes to the family—no extra driving or scheduling drop-offs

Requires travel and time for drop-off/pick-up

Service delivery

100% in-person sessions, no telehealth

Many providers supplement or rely on telehealth for sessions

Weekly hour range

Therapy hours based on each child’s needs (typically 4–30 hours per week)

Many clinics set a 20 hour minimum weekly commitment, which can overwhelm families
